MAASTRICHT. Walking nine kilometres for a good cause. On Tuesday 8 December at 18:30hrs., a torchlight procession for employees and students will start from the Minderbroedersberg. The procession will pass the Sint Pietersberg and continue on to the Cannerberg and Louwberg, pausing for hot chocolate and glühwein in the courtyard of Chateau Neercanne.
Registration fees from the evening walk will go to Serious Request – during this Dutch 3FM event, three popular radio DJs are locked up for six days in a small temporary radio studio, the Glass House and they live on a juice-only fast. With their radio programme they fundraise events for International Red Cross initiatives. This year the Glass House will be on the Pancratius square in Heerlen from 18 to 24 December. Money will be collected for children and youths living in war and conflict zones who have very little opportunity for education and development.
A Maastricht University working group was set up to coordinate the variety of Serious Request actions. The Red Cross student desk has organised their annual Serious Request party in the Tragos student association club on Wednesday 2 December (reservations through firstname.lastname@example.org).
