MAASTRICHT. Like last year, almost all acts in the ‘student room festival’ (Stukafest) will be understandable for English-speaking students. “Only the cabaret is in Dutch”, says chair Anna Heimbrock. During Stukafest, ten acts perform three times on one night in student rooms all over Maastricht. “There are lots of musical acts – because of the language accessibility – so we wanted as much variety as possible in that. There’ll be a drum band, two pianists and a group that makes experimental music.” This year, UM students will be not just in front of but also on the stage: Arts and Culture student Harrison Thomas will be singing and playing the guitar.
Heimbrock is particularly looking forward to the acts by artist Levi van Huyfevoort and the Ryan O’Reilly band. “Levi puts on music and then draws art using his whole body. You’d think watching someone draw is boring, but he makes a crazy performance of it. I haven’t seen the blues and folk band Ryan O’Reilly yet, so hopefully I’ll get the chance now.”
Stukafest will be held on 28 February. Tickets are available at Jules&you between 13.00 and 16.00 or at www.stukafest.nl
