UM 14th in THE ranking of Most International Universities

MAASTRICHT. Maastricht University is the highest Dutch university on the latest Most International Universities ranking, published last week. The British Times Higher Education (THE) journal places Maastricht in fourteenth position – last year it was in 88th place.
THE bases its ranking on the percentage of foreign students and employees and the number of scientific publications with at least one foreign co-author. Of all Maastricht students, almost half are from abroad. Among staff members, the ratio is one in three.
There are seven Dutch universities in the THE ranking, but after Maastricht, TU Delft doesn’t reach any higher than number ninety. After that, there are Twente (115), Rotterdam (142), Tilburg (164), Wageningen (174) and the University of Amsterdam (195).

The ranking is led by the University of Qatar. In Europe, Luxembourg has the most international character. Switzerland takes up four places in the top ten.
THE publishes the World University Ranking every year, in which Maastricht took 88th place last September. By focusing on the so-called ‘international outlook indicator’ there is now this variant of Most International Institutes.
The THE ranking is one of the big three, in addition to QS and Shanghai.
At the moment invitations for the National Student Survey (NSE) are ready to be sent to all students in schools of higher vocational education and universities in the Netherlands. The NSE results are important for the listings of universities in the Keuzegids and Elsevier. The more than 40 NSE questions concern aspects such as the content of the study programme, academic skills acquired, preparation for a professional career, the quality of lecturers, information, testing, study facilities, study burden and the general atmosphere. The NSE can be completed until 6 March.
