Lots of enthusiasm for Employees’ Council FS

MAASTRICHT. For the first time in years, there are candidates for a seat in MUO’s (Maastricht University Office) Employees’ Council.  Also for the other employees’ councils of the various service centres and the student fractions of the faculty councils, lists have been submitted for the university elections that will be held from 23 to 26 May. A striking phenomenon is the strong growth of the number of lists (now five) for the Facility Services’ employees’ council. It seems that the recent commotion at FS concerning the reorganisation of receptions – which also played a role in the departure of director Erik Klekamp and the arrival of an external advisor – has increased enthusiasm for a seat in the employees’ council. The students from the Faculty of Psychology and Neurosciences have also come up with more lists (now four) than before. In total, looking at the university as a whole, fewer student lists have been submitted than last year: thirteen instead of sixteen.

In two places - at the faculty councils of the School of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences - there is no need to vote, as the number of candidates equals the number of seats.

There are no elections for academic and support staff in the university and faculty councils. These are organised once every two years. Students are always elected for one year, personnel for a period of two years.

Results will be published on 27 May.
