Cause of death of Finnish student will not be disclosed

MAASTRICHT. At the request of the parents, the police will not disclose how Jassim Aba Al-Khail, first-year student at the European Law School, died. The police have positively ruled out foul play. The 22-year-old Finn was found dead by his housemates in the student house on the Statensingel on Thursday evening 15 September. His body was released on Tuesday, after which he was buried yesterday in the Islamic cemetery on the Tongerseweg in Maastricht.
Having not seen him for a few days, housemates raised the alarm when they found him dead in his room. Jassim Aba Al-Khail had only been studying in Maastricht for a short while. He went to secondary school (International Baccalaureate) near Helsinki.
The next few days, room B.1.019 in the Law faculty building will be set up as a commemorative space, where the book of condolence can be signed or a personal message for Jassim’s parents and relatives can be left.

I am so sad that Jassim did not have time to live the wonderful experience at Maastricht.

I thank everyone in Maastrcht .... the police, the university staff, the people of Maastricht, and the Mosque for making this situation a bit easier to deal with.

His loss will never be forgotten and my broken heart will never heal ....

Mohammed Aba Al-Khail (Jassim's father)
