MAASTRICHT – A separate train will be transporting passengers between Maastricht central station and Maastricht Randwyck at least until the next week. The additional train departs four times per hour in both directions. Public transporter Arriva will announce when the regular schedule will be continued.
The takeover of public transport in Limburg by Arriva from Veolia implemented last Sunday resulted in a public transportation chaos around Maastricht on Sunday and Monday morning. Regional news website 1Limburg reported that local trains from Roermond and Heerlen in the direction of Maastricht Randwyck do not drive further than Maastricht central station and that travel information provided to passengers proved inadequate. An Arriva spokesperson says that the situation had improved by Tuesday morning and adds that the direct train between Heerlen to Maastricht Randwyck has no problems. Belgian trains to Maastricht central station also do not appear to have problems.
