MAASTRICHT. This year’s education prize at the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience went to Course Coordinator Nick Broers. He is being honoured for his outstanding commitment to statistics at the faculty. It was the third time he won. Furthermore, Joke Humblet was crowned Best Student Tutor.
"Nick Broers is an enthusiastic, fair coordinator who always has an open ear for students", says Tasmin Rüffert of the FPN Studentcouncil that organises the election. "He gives great lectures (on statistics, no less) and puts in the effort to publish lecture slides beforehand on the Student Portal as well as summaries of the lecture after. Joke Humblet is a kind, attentive tutor who is good at mediating within the tutorial group whenever problems arise and stimulating a fruitful discussion to link all the relevant parts with one another when there are none."
Every year the Education Prize is decided by popular vote. The tutors are chosen through the course evaluations that every student can fill in at the end of the course.
