MAASTRICHT. The opinions about Europe are – to put it mildly – divided. In the next Story-Line event on Tuesday 26 March storytellers will share their stories about love and hate in Europe. Guests include Mathieu Segers, professor of European Affairs at University College Maastricht, best-seller author Francesca Melandri and Dutch writer Lodewijk van Oord.
The three of them will kick the evening off with a conversation on Italy’s colonial past and the complicated relationship Europeans have with Africa. Film critic Dana Linssen will give a mini-lecture about the role of Europe in contemporary films, and will interview Dutch-Bosnian film maker, Ena Sendijarevic, showing clips of her films. They will discuss questions like: What does it mean to be ‘European’? What is home?
Finally, Spoken Word artist, Samira Saleh will perform poems about Europe, written for this event.
The whole event will be in English. Tickets (15 euro, 8 euro for students) are available at lumiere.nl
