MAASTRICHT. During the opening of the academic year, children's rights researcher Marieke Hopman announced the introduction of a new platform: the Maastricht Platform for Community-Engaged Research. According to Hopman, who herself carried out research into children's rights in the Central African Republic, many researchers at Maastricht University also want to involve society in their research. They come up against the same problems: how to obtain subsidies, and how to deal with the media.
The platform was set up in order to support these researchers, but also to create a website where it is easy to find the social projects in which the UM is involved. The official launch is on Thursday 3 October, at art house Lumière.
