NETHERLANDS. Dutch Research Council and funding organisation NWO is not conducting any interviews with applicants for research grants for the time being. Applicants will most likely have to wait a few anxious months more because of the corona crisis.
“NWO has decided to defer the rounds of interviews for the ongoing subsidy rounds, such as Vidi, with immediate effect,” the website states. “Everyone who has received an invitation for an interview will be personally informed in the coming days.”
Assessment committee meetings will in principle take place, but remotely: the members won’t assemble. New application rounds may be postponed. That will need to become clear in the next few days.
“NWO realises that postponing and deferring the awarding of subsidies and the delayed initiation of new rounds will have consequences for applicants,” the organisation writes, “but because of the present circumstances it sees no other possibility.”
NWO has obviously also cancelled its larger events.
