MAASTRICHT. ‘In 2015 the percentage of children who die before their fifth birthday must be reduced by two thirds compared to 1990.’ This is one of the Millennium Development Goals, which will be the key focus during the theme evening on child mortality organised by the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) on Wednesday 26 March. A paediatrician will talk about child mortality in The Netherlands and Europe, a tropical doctor from Doctors without Borders and a representative from UNICEF will discuss the situation in developing countries. The evening will be in English and is also open to non-medical students.
