MAASTRICHT. Over 600 students from all over the world will gather at the European Model United Nations (Euromun) 2014, from April 30 to 4 May at the MECC in Maastricht. Each will take on the role of a diplomat and represent a country or party on one of the thirteen committees simulated during the conference. These include the United Nations Security Council, NATO and the two main bodies of the European Union: the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. The two EU committees will discuss external borders, information security and data security. “We present the topics broadly, but hope that the participants address current affairs such as the situation in the Ukraine and the latest big internet leak, Heartbleed”, says Nora Lambrecht, Secretary-General and Conference Manager.
