- YOU with Jamie Oliver
It’s highly likely that most New Year’s resolutions have already taken a dive. That’s the bad news. But for those who would like to give them a second chance – let’s be honest, the new year only really starts after all the new year drinks are behind us – will have the support of a new healthy lifestyle app called YOU, which was launched on 1 January. You get an assignment every day, the ‘action of the day’. For example: do ten knee bends. The idea is that this is easier than running for half an hour – which you might do once, but would give up quickly after that. With this, you change your behaviour in small steps.
The Finnish makers have roped TV chef Jamie Oliver as their first user. He shows how he is taking a walk with his wife or making a healthy soup from all the leftovers in the fridge (you also get the recipe). You can carry out the same assignments or select your own. You take photographs of all these small actions and your final target. These are shared with other app users, who can in turn react.
If you cannot manage it on a particular day, the app also has comforting words: “No hard feelings. There is always a new one tomorrow”.
