Not Maastricht but Leuven wins European Law Moot Court

MAASTRICHT. Leuven University won the European Law Moot Court Competition at the European Court of Justice in Luxemburg, this weekend. The Maastricht University team, composed of Anca Bliort, Eugenie Coche and Andrea Rigamonti, came in second. The ELMC is one of the world’s most important pleading competitions, in which participants simulate legal proceedings focusing on European Law. Between 80 and 100 teams from Europe and the United States worked on a hypothetical court case as of last autumn. After evaluation of the written pleadings only 48 teams were left, 12 per regional final. Eventually, four teams competed in Luxembourg: Leuven University, the University of Liège, Leiden University and Maastricht University.
Last year, the Maastricht team won the finals in Luxemburg for the sixth time since 1997.
