What else can you send to friends besides photos and messages – which is what you can already do with dozens of apps? Music is what the makers of MSTY (My Song To You) thought. Just choose a song based on a genre or your mood, or from the top 30 of popular songs at that moment. The app then selects a fragment of 30 seconds and sends it. You then can change the background by choosing a picture from your gallery or by taking a photograph and you type a message. Before you send everything to a friend, you are able to see and hear how well the music combines with the message and the picture.

A the moment, a few thousand songs are available in MSTY, but the makers expect that eventually it will be more like 22 million, thanks to agreements they have made with record labels such as Sony and Universal. You can’t send the musical messages to everyone; only users of the app can chat with each other. A group chat is not possible either at the moment.
