MAASTRICHT. In the next few months, work will be carried out on an important arterial road in Maastricht: the Kennedy Bridge. Mopeds and cyclists – including students and members of staff, travelling from the faculties in Randwyck to the city centre – will experience inconvenience. They will be re-routed halfway along the bridge because of the construction of a bus lane.
The footpath and cycle path on the bridge between the exit towards the Maasboulevard (the ‘bend’) and the Prins Bisschopsingel will be under construction until 5 October. Cars can still use the road.
This will be followed later on in autumn with work being carried out on the roundabout on the Emmaplein and the Prins Bisschopsingel, where bus stops will be created near the police station and the Tapijn barracks.
