City council elections

Adequate and inexpensive parking for German students, more bicycle racks and a nice discotheque. These are some of the wishes of the students on the lists of candidates for the various political parties in Maastricht. On Wednesday 3 March, they are hoping to gain a seat on the Maastricht city council.

EU students who are registered as inhabitants of Maastricht can vote (from 7.30 until 21.00hrs.) in one of the 63 polling stations spread across the city. Students from outside the EU also need valid legal residency. The polling station at the university (at Student Services, on the Bonnefantenstraat 2) is open from 9.00 until 18.00hrs. Remember to bring your polling card and proof of identity.

No idea whom to vote for? Student association Circumflex has created a voter’s guide especially for students. The ‘Verkiezingsflux’ is distributed free of charge and can be found near the Observant containers. For a general voting guide, go to
