What is the impact of the digitisation of cinema on the experience of watching movies? That’s the main question at Digitally UnReel, a film event organised by four master’s students of Arts and Sciences.
On Saturday 15 May, three designers, Nic Benns, Olivier Marquezy and Balder Westein, will introduce and discuss the design process behind some of the films being shown. Renowned short filmmaker Simon Ruschmeyer will then introduce a selection of short films from around the world. These fall into a wide variety of genres, and will follow characters who seek escape from the lives they live within a digitally created canvas. Saturday night's festivities will conclude with digital music and projector shows of some of the highlights of the title sequences and short films.
The following evening, a large selection of title sequences ranging from Dr. Strangelove to Thank You For Smoking will be shown. All films are in English or have English subtitles. For reservations and more information on digital film, please visit http:/digitization-of-film.squarespace.com
