Right-wing coalition reaches agreement

The Netherlands. The Christian democrats of the CDA, the conservative party VVD and the anti-Islamic party of Geert Wilders (PVV) have reached an agreement. Wilders called it a historic moment. “Left-wing politics have no role to play in the upcoming years. That’s good for the Netherlands, good for my party and good for the voters.”

A right-wing cabinet with support from the PVV isn’t a fact yet: The CDA congress still has to approve the agreement. In the past few weeks many prominent members of the CDA have expressed their concerns about collaboration with the PVV. Nevertheless, CDA leader Maxime Verhagen is confident the congress will give its approval. “This agreement is an answer to the problems Dutch society is facing.”
