Balkan beat is coming to town!

The next destination of the World Press Photo Exhibition is Maastricht. From Friday 5 to Sunday 28 November, Centre Céramique will be showing the outcome of the annual photography competition for photojournalists. At 14.00 on 5 November, an English-language tour of the travelling exhibition will be held specially for students. If you’d like to take part, be sure to reserve a ticket soon by emailing klantenservice@sbm.nl or calling Centre Céramique’s customer service line on 043 350 5600.

Fans of the Global Culture Nights organised by Studium Generale are getting lucky this week, and this time it’s not only concerts. International dance, music and art – the four-day Global Culture Festival has it all. Performances ranging from Balkan Beat and Flamenco to Cuban and African rhythms will spice up the stages of Maastricht’s theatres from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 November. For an overview of the programme, visit www.sg.unimaas.nl/

Prefer dance in particular? The Body Dynamics Festival is being held in Heerlen’s Cultuurhuis Patronaat on 5, 6 and 7 November. During the day, the top amateur dancers from Brabant, Limburg and Flanders will work together with professionals to improve their choreography skills. In the late afternoon and evening, they’ll put on a show together. Visit www.patronaatheerlen.nl/ for more information.
