A sport’s subscription, a tailcoat, a dinner for fifteen people, and a wine tasting event. These will be auctioned off during the Serious Request Party in the Circumflex club on Wednesday 8 December. The organisation is in the hands of the Red Cross Student Desk and the Maastricht Chamber of Associations. The proceeds from this auction (all goods and services from sponsors), but also the money from ticket sales (€5 if bought in advance), the lottery and some of the beer sales will go to ‘the voiceless (child) victims of HIV/AIDS’: the 3FM radio station's charity action Serious Request.
From 18 until 24 December, three national DJs – among them Giel Beelen – will be locked in the Glass House that will be on the Market in Eindhoven this year. It is the seventh edition of this event. Last year, the Glass House was in Groningen and 3FM, helped by numerous organisations and individuals, raised more than seven million euros for the fight against malaria. The Red Cross Student Desk also made a contribution, totalling €2,155. “This year we are hoping for €5,000”, says Kifah Shoker, second-year student of University College and a member of the organising committee. “We are going all out, having contracted judoka Dennis van der Geest and Jean de la Foret as DJs, for example.”
