"Feminine and sexy, without getting sexual”

Ineke Graafmans (25), from Valkenswaard, is a third-year student of the Bachelor in Arts and Culture.

Loves: cycling on a cold winter’s day, and belly dancing
“I’m a very domestic person”, Ineke Graafmans says. “I’m fond of knitting, and I love to bake: bread, muffins, all sorts of things. Not that I’ll eat it all by myself afterwards. Luckily, my boyfriend Tom is always prepared to help me to get rid of it. I just love to be at home, and would never spend my holiday in Australia or somewhere like that. Give me a good book and I’d rather settle down on my own couch.”
Graafmans also loves to cycle on cold winter mornings. “Enjoying a clear and chilly daybreak is my favorite recess. A soft breeze helps me to cool down and refresh my mind.” And what to do on a warm summer night? “Well, I’m fond of belly dancing too. It’s feminine and sexy, without getting sexual.”

Hates: Touchy-feely people who don’t respect your personal space
“You know that kind of person who’s always touching you when you’re in a conversation? You know, like laying a hand on your shoulder or fiddling with your hair or clothes? I hate it when people do that, especially when I’m stressed out.” Some of her colleagues at the wellness centre Thermae 2000 are very touchy-feely in this way. “The masseurs in particular just don’t seem to get it. They just want to touch you. I always try to avoid those people. My personal space is sacred and no-one should enter it without my permission.”
Graafmans also hates the smell of chocolate. “Last week I went into the Albert Heijn and was attacked by a strong smell of chocolate milk. It was awful and made me sick! I can’t figure out why I hate it so much, but for me the scent of hot chocolate is on the same list as toxic exhaust fumes.”
