About 1,100 alumni (of 37 different nationalities) are expected to attend the first major Alumni Day on Saturday 28 May, on the occasion of Maastricht University’s 35th anniversary.
Every faculty will have its own morning programme. There will be a wine tasting event for former UCM students, discussions at Arts and Social Sciences about the rebellions in the Arab world versus the Eastern European revolutions in 1989, a presentation by the School of Business and Economics about alumni statistics, while the psychologists look into the future with Willem Mattens, project leader of Brains Unlimited.
From three o’clock in the afternoon, there will be a party for former students and former staff members in the enclosed garden at Tongersestraat 53. Tuna Maastricht will play traditional Spanish music and cover band De Coronas will play requests. There will also be a mobile pasta caterer, a mobile coffee bar, an ice cream corner and a popcorn cart from Vespresso. The four main student associations - Tragos, Circumflex, Koko, and Saurus - will have their own meeting points in the garden.
