Sandrinne Antony, 19, born and raised in London, second-year bachelor’s student of European Law School.

“Who do I miss most? That’s a tricky question. My first thoughts go to family and friends. I left lots of people behind, so it’s hard to pick one. But okay, if I have to: my best friend in London, Naomi. She’s also 19. Her birthday is one day after mine: the 25th of April. We met in the first year of high school and she’s like a sister to me. I don’t have siblings. We can talk about anything; we even share the most embarrassing stories. We planned to go on a gap year after high school but in the summer of 2010 I decided that I wanted to study abroad, to do something new. My family is from Europe, from Romania, so I don’t share the British view, I don’t feel so different from those on the continent. Naomi travelled all over the world last year. I was quite jealous. She’s now going to study in England.”

“I first brought a very tiny music box with me. My dad gave it to me when I was four. It’s now broken and my mother took it back to England; it’s too precious and I don’t want it getting damaged more. Also, I always carry a Barbie shoe with me. It’s the shoe of my favourite Barbie. I lost her wearing one shoe. I hope it will bring me luck.”
