It seems like only yesterday, yet two weeks of blissful holidays have passed since the last exams. Since not all students were disciplined enough to study at home, and right before Christmas the library was packed with students preparing for exams and writing essays, Jules & You came up with a solution, offering space and unlimited free caffeine.
From 19 to 22 December, Jules & You was open to any student who was looking for a place to study – 72 hours straight, a true marathon.
Unfortunately, not many showed up. On the first two days a few students walked in and out, while on the third day there were about seven students. Their reasons for studying at Jules & You are similar: free coffee and silence. So why were they not here for the past two days? “We were studying at home, but as of today all our housemates are finished with their exams. They’re celebrating now, so it’s not the perfect atmosphere for studying.”
The lack of interest does not mean that this is the last time Jules & You will organise a study marathon. “We know there are different places to study, but that doesn’t mean there are enough. We planned this event because of all the student complaints”, explains marketing manager Eliot Rolen, who has been awake for the past 64 hours. “Students just need to be familiar with Jules & You as a place to study. The people who did show up were looking for an alternative. We were able to offer them what they needed.”
