Don’t panic when you hear a lot of bells ringing on Friday 27 January at 11.30. There’s no fire – it’s the Maastricht bells, the kick-off of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Maastricht Conservatory. All church bells and carillons across town will join in a bells concert, together with primary school children with hand-held bells at the Vrijthof. The concert will last until 12.00. From 14.00 until 15.00 there’ll be an additional concert at the carillon at the Vrijthof. In the evening, the conservatory itself will host a night of classical music. For more information, please check www.conservatoriummaastricht.nl.
The Muziekgieterij will hold a pop, funk, hip hop and electro party on Saturday 28 January at 20.00. The German band Freakatronic, British band A Nameless Band Called Funk and Belgian band Bonnaparty will perform. DJ Volt.mar will play at the afterparty. Tickets cost €5 and are available at www.muziekgieterij.nl.
