- Keep Calm Generator
In 1939, panic prevailed among the British population. The Second World War was about to erupt and people feared bombardments by the Germans. To raise people’s spirits and keep them calm, the British government had 2.45 million posters printed with mottos such as: ‘Keep calm and carry on’.
For a few years now, traders have copied the motto and numerous variants are available on posters, mugs, T-shirts, duvet covers, and so on. Examples are ‘Keep calm and eat chocolate’, ‘Keep calm and party on’ or ‘Keep calm and hug a penguin’.
For those who cannot find the motto of their choice, there is the Keep Calm Generator. This app can be used to design your own poster with a ‘keep calm’ text. Various backgrounds and icons for above the text are available (the original has a crown). Part of the app is free, but if you want more variation, you need to pay 99 cents. There is also an option to order a T-shirt with your own text.
