On an exchange? That will also be possible at another UM faculty

MAASTRICHT. Students who do their exchange visit (partly) from home (i.e. online) next year, will still be entitled to the EU exchange grant Erasmus+. Also, non-EU students who, because of the travel restrictions, have to re-apply for a visa, need not pay the 147 euro cost. The UM will take care of that.

Last Wednesday, a series of issues relating to internationalisation were brought up during a University Council committee meeting. For instance, Martin Paul, president of the Executive Board, stated that UM students who do not want to go on an exchange visit or are unable to do so, could do a minor at another faculty. There will also be an extra Sustainability minor at the UM that students can choose instead of their experience abroad. Paul referred to it as “Exchange on campus”.

During the discussion of the quarterly reports in the Operations committee, council member Mark Govers (academic staff) wondered why no attention is being paid to staff overtime. He called it “disrespectful”. It should at least be mentioned in the report, said Govers, who added it was a missed opportunity. His criticism surprised vice president of the Executive Board, Nick Bos. After all, the Executive Board has “in all its messages to employees, paid attention to the efforts made by staff and also expressed its appreciation. I don’t understand what more you expect from us?”
