Once a year, Indonesian students from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany come together to play badminton – the most popular sport in their home country. At this year’s Maastricht Cup - last Saturday - fifty players competed for the prizes – while other visitors enjoyed the bazaar with authentic Indonesian food that’s organized along with it. “We want people to both enjoy the games and learn something about our culture,” says Nael Sumampouw, PhD student at Forensic Psychology and one of the organisers. Special guest this year was the Indonesian ambassador, I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja. A keen badminton player himself, who participated in the games as well.
