A group of academics and support staff, together with diversity officer Constance Sommerey, have decided to support the empowerment of women and female leadership for more diversity and gender equality at this institute.
The idea is that FEM will organise lunches, workshops and a mentor programme, as well as an annual event; an opportunity to get in contact with others and exchange information, says Sommerey. Even though the founders have an objective in mind, they want to know from the rest of the university what they need, why FEM is so necessary for women or men (because men are welcome too). Attention will be paid to mentoring, for example: how should that be achieved in practice? Who will take whom under their wing, who is allowed to participate?
On Tuesday, 13 November, Pamela Habibovic, professor at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, will hold a panel discussion with PhD candidate Latifa Abidi (FHML), professor Esther Versluis from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Kirsten Engbersen, head of marketing and communication at FHML. Peter Mollgaard, dean of the School of Business and Economics, will also join.
Participants (men, women, academics or support staff) may choose any of four workshops: networking, mentoring, work-life balance , and training.
