The Executive Board announced this today, one day after the press conference in which Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge announced stricter corona measures: work at home, unless there is no other option, limit travel, cafes and restaurants close at 10 p.m., at home a maximum of three people visiting, meetings in a building with a maximum of thirty people, provided that a distance of 1.5 meters is guaranteed. Anyone who organizes something outside can admit a maximum of forty people.
Not much is changing, and that is because there are no indications that infections are occurring within the UM buildings, according to the communication email. The motto for UM education remains "on campus if possible, online if necessary". The university buildings will remain open, studying in the university library and other study places will continue to be permitted subject to all corona rules, like social distancing. Employees must work from home as much as possible. They can only come to the office if it is really necessary.
When it comes to PhD- and graduation ceremonies or inaugural lectures: these are allowed with a maximum of thirty people, with fixed seats and at a distance of 1.5 meters.
Regarding the wearing of face masks, a subject that is causing a lot of discussion nationwide and on which a statement from the government is expected next week: there is no obligation, but those who feel comfortable wearing a face mask should do so. And especially in places where the 1.5 meter distance - think of narrow corridors - is a problem, it is recommended.
