“Student associations are not for me”

Tom (“I don't like being in the newspaper with my last name.”) from Vught is going to start studying econometrics this academic year. A tough, mathematical study, but he is not very afraid of that. He got no less than a 9.5 for Mathematics B on the central final exam. “We’ll see if it’s too hard.” Why econometrics? “Actually, I like physics, but I don't like the experiments. I'm not very handy with my hands. I also find economics interesting and with the many mathematics, econometrics was a good option.”

For the time being he has no room and he goes back and forth by train. That's an hour and a half there and an hour and a half back. “I think it is still a bit early and also financially it’s better.” During the INKOM he does have a place to stay with someone from his group. They will not be there this Tuesday afternoon at the sporting event. They have their own plan during the day.

At home in Vught, Tom is a member of the hockey association. He has just taken a look at the market stall of the Maastricht student hockey club, he says. “In case I move.” What he already knows for sure is that he will not join a student association. "That's not for me, those parties, long evenings."
