The students on the Annadal campus have been the cause of noise and other nuisance for surrounding neighbours before. Years ago, they set up an e-mail system in order to meticulously register complaints. Last month, seven inhabitants complained about a continuous buzzing sound, which they know for sure is coming from the roof of the M building. A problem that they say began last summer. “Extremely irritating and bad for our night’s rest,” they say in their e-mails. “Have knobs been turned? Or maybe something is broken,” they wondered.
Even for other residents who are not in the e-mail system, there is no doubt: the buzzing sound is coming from the M building. “I most certainly hear the noise,” says an inhabitant of the Kochstraat. “Although it does not keep me awake at night.”
A walk around the Annadal campus does indeed make on think that the sound is coming from the M building. Although immediately next to the building, nothing could be heard. “I have no trouble at all,” say three students who live there.
In the e-mail system, Xior commented that no changes had been made to appliances and that they would only change something “if a device is broken and that is not the case now”. Observant made several attempts to contact Xior, without any success so far.
