Photo overview: the locations of the UL The UL has long since ceased to consist of the two large libraries in Randwyck and downtown 06-12-2022 · Photographic report MAASTRICHT. Exams are coming up. This means a lot of studying at Maastricht University. Of course you can study at home or at one of the study places at your own faculty, but many students choose one of the three thousand 'general study places' of the University Library (UL). These have long since ceased to be the two large libraries in downtown and Randwyck. Those who need a book should be there, but those who want to study can go to one of the four other locations. Observant took a look. Early next year, the UL will open another location with 150 study places at Endepolsdomein 150. Until recently, this building housed the Maastricht School of Management. This new one is not yet photographed. The large inner city university library has it all: books, quiet areas, group spaces and even a video and podcasting room. There are a total of 1,000 study spaces here. Relatively new are the learning space on Paul-Henri Spaaklaan. Here there are three hundred study spaces with especially plenty of opportunity for group assignments. The underground plinth at Tapijn is also relatively new. There is room here for about 160 students. The 135 study spots at Loods V on Tapijn are run by students themselves. No books can be found in the learning spaces of the sports center, but those who still want to lift heavy can visit the fitness hall on the same floor. There are a total of 170 study spaces here. The guesthouse on Annadal is one of two bonus locations. Residents regularly sit here to study, but the spots are free to all UM students. For night owls, there is an arrangement with The Social Hub (new name of the former The Student Hotel), bonus location number two. UM students can study here 24 hours a day during XXL Weeks, the weeks before and during exams.
