That number falls far short of the hundred spots that were made available for MBO students, despite promotion by both the INKOM Working Group and MBO institution Vista.
Vice-president Bo Goedhart is nonetheless pleased with the four registrants, who will be forming their own group. "It's nice that they are there and that we can run this pilot”, she said.
The INKOM began today with an information market on the grounds of the Tapijn Barracks. The official opening with several performances will be held there tonight.
The groups of new students are guided by a total of six hundred mentors. A fixed number are provided by the various student associations.
Student association Tragos would normally be providing several dozens of mentors. However, Tragos is not participating in the Inkom this year, after having caused upheaval last year. "We were able to fill those places in good consultation with the other associations," Goedhart said.
That is not to say, by the way, that Tragos will not have a visible presence at all. Anyone may become a mentor on an individual basis, says Goedhart, "we have actively promoted that". That includes individual members of Tragos, who may wear their association attire.
How many Tragos members are involved, she cannot say; what she can say is that, as previously determined, the association's activities are not included in the INKOM program, and Tragos is not present with a booth at the information market.
In view of the bad weather that has been predicted for Thursday, plans have been made, Goedhart said. "There is a rain program where we would move out to the MECC. But so far it's looking good."
