Portrait of INKOM participant: Mérovée Balick from France

23-08-2023 · Interview

Time for an interview? No problem for Mérovée Balick, who lost his Inkom group on entry and was left with two others from his group. They look a bit lost and, by his own admission, have nothing better to do. How is that possible at an information market? But it seems the Frenchman didn't come for that: "I was actually expecting more food."

Maastricht is an international student city. Moreover, the education system really appeals to Balick. "The problem-based education, PBL, deals with relevant and topical issues. That makes it interesting." He will soon start the Maastricht Science Programme, where he had to choose subjects for the first semester. Geology is his favourite subject. The programme prepares him well for interesting masters, he thinks. Balick has already read quite a bit about it and also already knows where he wants to do the master: "not in Maastricht." I am half French, half American, so it will be the United States."
