The contract with Coffeelovers doesn't expire until September, but now that a new party has been found, the company is packing up early. The reason for terminating the lease was the decline in customers. “Students are increasingly going to our other cafés in the city”, manager Michiel Scheijen told Observant last month. “The SSC branch has begun to feel more like a canteen than a Coffeelovers café.” For Bandito, which has no locations outside the university, this seems less of an issue.
The coffee bar will be handed over on 1 May, after which it will close for renovations. "On Monday 18 May it will reopen, with a promotion: all coffees for one euro," says Mike van Gerwen, contact manager at Facility Services.
