Xior turns off ventilator

MAASTRICHT. The buzzing noise that was bothering the residents of the streets around the Annadal Campus came from the roof of the M Building, after all. Student housing company Xior previously said it didn’t come from their roof, but admitted in an email to residents today that a fan made more noise than usual. They turned the device off.

Since last summer there has been a buzzing sound in the neighborhood around Annadal. Not everyone was bothered by it, but some people in the neighborhood even slept badly. Where did the sound come from? Residents all pointed to the roof of the M building.

Until recently, Xior said that nothing was wrong. They would only do something about it "if a device is broken and it isn't now," the company said in an email exchange with the neighborhood. Apparently Xior recently checked the equipment on the roof of the M building. An external company looked at it and concluded that one fan was making more noise than usual, Xior wrote to the neighborhood on Wednesday 19 October. The device is turned off.

The noise is thus back to the level it was before the summer; a little bit of noise always came from it. But the sharp edges are now gone, a local resident agrees.
