Like last year, when 4 MBO students participated, that number falls far short of the 100 spots available to them. New was the “handful” of MBO students who signed up as mentors or crew members, says Working Group INKOM chair Lotte Kaesler. In total there are six hundred mentors who guide the groups of new students.
A shortened week
This year's introduction ‘week’ lasts only four days instead of the usual five. “It was decided by Student Services Centre to shorten INKOM,” Kaesler told Observant shortly before the summer vacation. “Student associations can then use their own initiatives on Friday to show what they are all about.”
There will also be no cantus this year. For decades, that typical student party, where drinking beer and singing take center stage, was one of the three big events at the MECC during INKOM. This year, according to Kaesler, it didn't fit: “We don’t want three identical evenings with the same kind of music.”
